Who We Are

We are currently hiring a goal-oriented Yard Hostler in Oakland, CA. Hook-up driver, yard spotter drives trucks or tractors to and from vehicle parking and docking area to move, position, and park 53’ trailers. Move production material trailers on request to fulfill the just-in-time delivery method. Spots (positions) loaded and unloaded trailers at assigned dock space for unloading or loading, using tractor. Document all moves.

What You Will Do

  • Responsible for using an industrial tractor to move trailers as instructed within the yard to facilitate shipping and receiving functions. Will rely on instructions and pre-established procedures to perform daily job tasks.
  • Responsibilities include but not limited to hooking and unhooking trailers, moving trailers in and out of doors, securing, and sealing outbound trailer doors. Will ensure all trailers are loaded or empty.
  • Will assist drivers who have general inquiries such as yard locations, or other questions and/or issues. Will represent the Company in a professional manner at all times.
  • Responsible for the daily inspection of industrial truck, and trailers, including safety checks while adhering to applicable regulations and procedures. Documents and reports all maintenance and safety issues.
  • Responsible for completing daily yard checks. All documentation will be completed and submitted in a timely manner.

Who You Are

  • Required License or Certification: Current Class C Drivers License
  • Essential Physical Requirements: 

    • Continuous standing/walking in a warehouse environment throughout an 8 hour day or more 
    • Frequent push, pull, squat, bend and reach to stack, carry, lift and pick product throughout an 8 hour day or more 
    • Continuous lifting of 20 lbs, frequent lifting of 25-40 lbs and occasional lifting of 50 lbs or more 
    • Frequent stacking of pallets and totes (20-50 lbs) up to 6 feet fall 
    • Frequent lifting above the shoulders 
    • Frequent picking and packing of bags of coffee up to 3 lbs
