  • Overview

    The Fleet Manager is responsible for the effective management and implementation of the national fleet management activities for a growing fleet of Class 2 and 3 delivery vehicles. To ensure these activities are carried out appropriately, the fleet manager responsibilities must be executed effectively. The responsibilities include management of fleet (financing, acquisition, tracking repair and maintenance, administration of stickers/transponders/truck kits). The individual will also develop and drive programs for maintenance, fuel, safety management and DOT regulation compliance with a focus on improving the efficiency and quality by identifying factors that can reduce transportation cost for the organization.

     

    Responsibilities

    The fleet manager is a professional who is responsible for carrying out a wide variety of tasks related to planning, managing, supervising, and coordinating the fleet management related activities. He/she is actively involved in directing and organizing the tasks related to procurement, operation, maintenance, repairing, and servicing of the vehicles.

    • Leasing and Asset Tracking
    • Mobile maintenance fleet management and Fuel programs
      • Manage tasks related to various fleet management activities like procurement, repairing, maintenance, servicing etc., according to priority and ensure that all these functions are carried out within the established rules and legal regulations.
    • Develop, implement and manage multi-state regulatory compliance programs, working closely with Risk Manager on policies and compliance as well training the DSD field team
    • Safety management and compliance to company policy using on-truck telematics
    • Ability to partner with stakeholders regarding the business needs of vehicles; address concerns and ensure timely resolution of relevant conflicts
    • Knowledge of the specifications of the vehicles that need to be procured balancing optimal quality and price, coordinate the build & delivery to the final destination
    • Provide detailed technical training related to fleet management duties to the DSD field organization, answer their queries and to give information related to various policies and procedures
    • Develop and maintain statistical reports, files and relevant records related to maintenance, repairs, depreciation, mileage, etc.
    • Provide input to the annual budget by analyzing and reviewing the financial data and by controlling and authorizing the expenditures and to develop new policies, programs, and procedures as needed
    • Look for programs and opportunities for cost savings in the fleet program (group purchasing opportunities, etc.)
    • Attend and participate in professional meetings and stay abreast with the current trends

    Qualifications

    •  Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience working in a DSD organization
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally
    • Able to work with internal customers and balance competing priorities to create win-win solutions that balance field support with process efficiencies
    • Ability to analyze the requirements of the situation and to take effective and corrective action
    • Ability to be able to work with minimum supervision, meet the scheduled timelines, and to plan and organize the work accordingly
    • Proficiency in excel is required to generate relevant work reports
    • Should have excellent problem-solving skills
