  • Overview

    Reporting to the Senior Manager – Team Leader - Foodservice, the Regional Sales Manager develops, manages and coordinates new business across Peet’s targeted Foodservice channels both on a direct basis as well as assisting with distribution partners. Targeted channels include colleges & universities, business and industry foodservice accounts, hospitals/healthcare, quality multi-unit restaurants/cafes, hotels & resorts and upscale entertainment venues. The ideal candidate will be based in Northern California.

    Location listed as Peet's HQ in Emeryville, California - but this position is designed to encompass the San Francisco Bay Area, Northern California, and the Pacific Northwest.



    • Research, identify and prioritize targeted account opportunities by strategic channel & geography and develop robust new business pipeline.
    • Prospect and qualify new business opportunities from pipeline and other sources of leads.
    • Develop and present dynamic, conceptual sales presentations and proposals (both verbal and written) to key decision makers.
    • Conduct on-site tastings from start to finish including setting up of brewing equipment and sampling area as well as answering questions about Peet’s and Mighty Leaf products.
    • Successfully close new business to aid team in achieving aggressive sales and profit targets.
    • Possess the ability to assess the equipment and branding needs of new prospects and recommend options that work for the customer and for Peet’s.
    • Work collaboratively with Operations team to ensure installations of new accounts occur smoothly and successfully.
    • Work closely with other Regional Sales Managers to assist with maximizing relationships that stretch to other territories.
    • Cultivate key regional and local relationships with contract feeders to build Peet’s awareness and to make Peet’s Coffee and Mighty Leaf Tea the lead premium solution for our strategic verticals and desired end user accounts.
    • Work collaboratively with Operations team upon request to build territory base business growth plans and to drive strategic relationships and account retention at key accounts
    • Assist with Distribution Management Team to foster relationships with distributors as well as communicate details of new accounts pulling through distributors to ensure the process flows smoothly.
    • Maintain account records in Salesforce including information on equipment, ordering patterns, contact person(s), pricing, and profitability objectives to help manage pipeline and communicate customer needs.
    • Participate in industry events and trade associations such as NACUFS, etc. Leverage participation in these groups and events to drive strategic relationships and to generate leads.
    • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Manager – Team Leader, Foodservice



    • Seven years’ related outside sales experience with proven track record of ability to target and close new accounts.
    • Foodservice and distributor account sales and management experience
    • Knowledge of broadline distributors such as Sysco and US Foods
    • Knowledge of foodservice operators such as Compass, Sodexo and Aramark
    • Consultative and persuasive selling skills
    • Strategic business planning and customer management experience
    • Analytical skills to identify business opportunities and to manage existing customers
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills with both internal team and external customers and service partners
    • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively to achieve the delivery of division and personal goals  
    • Proven competence in operational performance (time management, action orientation, results driven)
    • Strong Word, Powerpoint, and Excel computer skills.
    • Willingness to travel regularly throughout the territory and occasionally Nationally.
