  • Overview

    The Tea Supply Chain Manager works with the VP Tea to manage raw tea commitments, inventory, and allotment within Mighty Leaf’s portfolio.  The role engages with our suppliers and copackers to ensure efficient movement of raw material through our supply chain.  This person also is a key department business partner with internal Quality Assurance, Sales/Marketing, and Procurement/Planning, ensuring cross functional coordination throughout the supply chain and NPD development cycle.  Successful candidates should have supply chain experience sourcing seasonal ingredients, and familiarity with product development and quality assurance food programs.



    Tea Sourcing:

    • Executes the tea sourcing strategy with suppliers, ensuring supply meets expectations for quality, price, and shipment timing
    • Tracks inventory position, contract status, and bulk tea supply chain to ensure copackers order and receive the right teas, correct quantities, arriving fresh and on time to execute production
    • Compiles data and provides insight in order to update supplier projections and track contract positions
    • Communicates with copackers to ensure proper execution of: raw tea assignation, communication with tea suppliers, FIFO rotation, inventory levels, and tea costing
    • Identifies ongoing risks and opportunities with respect to availability and stability of specific supplies, logging non-compliance of suppliers or copackers, alternative sources, etc.
    • Coordinates with Procurement/Planning team with respect to volume projections, tea availability, pricing, commitments secured; and managing item ramp-ups and discontinuations


    Tea & Product Quality:

    • With VP Tea, conveys specific tea requirements or updates to suppliers; addresses suppliers’ questions and helps supplier deliver product that meets our requirements
    • Coordinates with Quality Assurance team on tea standards; provides final product tea specs and updates to tea data base
    • Participates in all tea department cuppings for evaluating quality
    • Prepares tea cupping setup and takedown as needed


    Team Leadership:

    • Provides tea expert content to Marketing, Purchasing, Quality Assurance, Customer Service and Sales teams as needed
    • Helps promote tea quality and brand relevance within the organization


    • BA in business or related field
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in supply chain, preferably tea, beverages or food
    • Strong prioritization skills; ability to develop, plan, organize and manage multiple tasks within the department and cross-functionally
    • Competency in Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
    • Strong communication, organization, process improvement, and problem-solving skills
    • Interest in and continued development of tea, herb, and beverage knowledge
    • Discriminating organoleptic ability
