  • Overview

    Reporting to the Vice President Supply Chain the Director of Manufacturing is responsible for the overall leadership and day-to-day operation of Peet’s manufacturing facility. Specific areas of responsibility include leading a successful team in all aspects of manufacturing operations and site management. This role is accountable for the development and achievement of monthly, annual and long-term strategic plans as well as operational improvement initiatives related to the cost, efficiency, waste, quality, safety and environmental management of all plant operations.

    Responsibilities

     

    • Direct and manage plant operations including production planning, roasting, packaging, equipment  and site maintenance
    • Recruit, form, develop and retain a high caliber team with a continuous improvement focus and mentality promoting a performance management culture
    • Ensure safety, quality, cost and service standards assuring objectives  in these areas are consistently achieved in these areas
    • Develop and achieve annual operating and capital budgets
    • Implement cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages and salaries
    • Set continuous improvement and productivity objectives providing the necessary leadership and training to achieve or exceed challenging targets employing rigorous root cause analysis and counter measures for any performance shortfall
    • Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight and repair expenses
    • Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment to assure reliability; replace, or enhance plant facilities and equipment when necessary to achieve best in class availability
    • Implements and maintains preventative and predictive maintenance programs to limit unplanned downtime
    • Ensure compliance with all industry and environmental regulatory requirements

    • Hands-on leader who understands employee engagement, is a strong team builder, coach and mentor
    • Comprehensive understanding of key supply chain processes including planning, production, logistics, and quality management
    • Strong analytical skills with solid understanding of financial data, analysis and planning
    • Ability to translate detailed data and observations into fact-based performance enhancing recommendations, effectively present these findings and gain buy in from management
    • Ability to partner and collaborate cross functionally to achieve desired results and strategic goals
    • Proven success using metrics, productivity tracking and data collection systems to drive continuous performance improvement throughout the value chain
    • Ability to proactively manage multiple priorities in a fast paced, change oriented commercial environment
    • Solid interpersonal, verbal and written communication, influencing and presentation skills
    • Ability and willingness to represent Peet’s Coffee in the communities we serve

     

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor of Science degree required; certification in supply chain management preferred
    • Senior management level experience in relevant supply chain management functions (multiple areas preferred) including at least 5 years in a senior manufacturing leadership role
    • CPG products experience required with food and beverage background at a mid-to-large scale manufacturer strongly preferred
