  • Overview

    Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Retail Communications, the Retail Communications Manager is responsible for the execution of the Retail communications strategy, delivering ongoing coffeebar communications and supporting the field through launch communications and management of the Daily Brew.  Their primary responsibilities are to create and execute communications which strengthen and simplify the Peet’s Mission, motivate and engage employees, and drive improvements in store execution to ultimately better serve our customers.


    The Retail Communications Manager is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on individual to positively impact customer experience and engage our store teams by:

    • Creating an environment where our coffeebars are at the center of every decision we make
    • Translating retail goals into clear and understandable objectives for our coffeebars
    • Providing support that enables our stores to execute against retail goals and objectives
    • Providing communication and tools that support retail excellence in our coffeebars


    Program Management

    • Serve as the Retail Communications Lead focused on creating and sending accurate, timely and engaging weekly communications:
      • Own and lead weekly communication creation, preparation, edit, approval and distribution
      • Deliver field communications through development of weekly communications, including What’s In Store and DLE articles and content for Daily Brew, Yammer and Vine St.


    •  Own the seasonal program guide content gathering process and communication strategy for each season:
      • Manage content creation, editing and approval process for Seasonal Program Guides
      • Partner with Marketing to review and post Display Booklet on Vine St.
      • Create seasonal overview presentations and lead RL/DL Seasonal Readiness Calls
      • Deliver seasonal program communications through development and execution of supporting communications, including;
        • What’s In Store and DLE articles and updates
        • Team Member training modules on Vine St.
        • Dedicated seasonal pages and updates on the Daily Brew
        • Check for Execution Forms to ensure launch readiness (DL and SM versions)
        • Seasonal Issues Tracking Form
        • Seasonal Hindsight Survey
      • Continually optimize and improve processes related to seasonal and non-seasonal product launches.
      • Develop and utilize field surveys to identify and implement process improvements for future seasons. Analyze results and report out trends.
      • Retail meeting logistics & event planning support; lead planning and execution of event logistics for field rallies once per year
      • Own the creation, design and upkeep of all communications request templates, guidelines and educating business partners on process
      • Be a champion of organization, communication and partnership to ensure essential cross functional collaboration for all product launches
      • Create strong partnerships with field, cross-functional and Home Office business partners to:
        • Drive resolution on coffeebar issues
        • Send accurate and timely coffeebar communication
        • Effectively support individual and company initiatives and special projects


    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication and presentation skills
    • Strong ability to multi-task, follow up and manage competing priorities independently
    • Strong customer focus.  Anticipate customer needs and take action to meet them: continually search for ways to increase customer satisfaction and improve processes
    • Excellent time management skills; ability to balance priorities and demonstrated ability to manage projects independently from creation to implementation to maintenance
    • Thorough understanding of in-store retail processes
    • Passion for coffee, tea, and people
    • Flexible and able to quickly adapt to changing needs of the business
    • Ability to interact with and influence all levels of management
    • Ability to establish partnerships and work with cross-functional teams
    • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and independently
    • Four-year college degree in business or related field required
    • Excellent in Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge of SharePoint and Yammer preferred.
