  • Overview

    The Procurement Specialist/Buyer supports the business by executing the planning and purchasing of materials, services and supplies for assigned group(s) and works with vendors, tracks information, gathers and analyzes data, and generates reports for management review. The Procurement Specialist/Buyer works with demand forecasting to determine appropriate inventory strategies for all managed items and uses knowledge of supplier lead times and performance to issue POs on a timely basis to ensure availability. The Procurement Specialist/Buyer also expedites, on an as needed basis, deliveries of products to DCs or customers to meet anticipated or unanticipated demand with equal enthusiasm.

     

     

    Responsibilities

    • Develops item inventory strategy based on business criticality, forecast accuracy, required service level (availability), lead times, MOQs and EOQs.
    • Owns the day-to-day purchasing activities of assigned categories.
    • Ensures the appropriate inventory is ordered on time and is of the appropriate volume.
    • Completes purchase orders and submits to suppliers in accordance with requirements.
    • Forecast inventory needs and align purchases to meet and exceed customer required service levels.
    • Contacts suppliers, and places orders with vendors providing best total value.
    • Maintain relationships with suppliers.
    • Track and resolve PO’s past due dates. Administer Open Order Report, acting as liaison between suppliers and internal customers
    • Resolve procurement issues with multiple departments including AP, fixed assets, end-users, etc.
    • Work with AP on PO match exceptions
    • Manage day to day performance issues of suppliers to ensure best service to internal and external customers.
    • Manage short term corrective action process and escalate to strategic sourcing as appropriate.
    • Applies continuous improvement techniques to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
    • Prepare and maintain on-going management reports

     

    Qualifications

    • BA in business or related field
    • 2 - 5 years relevant experience (sourcing, procurement, planning)
    • Ability to develop, plan, organize and manage multiple priorities
    • Strong desire for continuous process improvement
    • Working knowledge/familiarity with supply chain /  planning software 

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • BA in Operations/Supply Chain Management or related field
    • 5+ years experience in a Buyer or Planning role
