  • Overview

    Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the Sr. QA technician implements and monitors quality assurance programs to assure that quality, safety, and regulatory compliance standards are met for Peet’s products.  The Sr. QA technician is responsible for ensuring the timely flow of samples and information through the product quality evaluation process, overseeing the non-conforming product program and producing and maintaining accurate documentation and feedback procedures.  

    Responsibilities

    • Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
    • Conducts daily quality checks through the quality evaluation process.
    • Records and communicates lab results to the plant management team.
    • Performs additional testing and analysis as needed.
    • Assists QA Manager in monthly food safety audits of the plant.
    • Assists the QA manager in completing mock recalls.
    • Oversees the non-conforming product program (donation program) ensuring accurate documentation.
    • Ensures that all testing equipment is calibrated and in working order.
    • Ensures department tasks are done accurately and in a safe, timely fashion.
    • Coordinate and organize all documentation for third party audits and business reviews.
    • Maintain and monitor Hold Log and Customer Compliant programs including root cause analysis and customer feedback.
    • Oversee retain samples and packaging materials testing. Facilitate packaging materials trials
    • Oversee customer compliance website
    • Lead other projects as assigned
    • Maintain Organic documentation
    • Fill out Kosher applications for new items and conduct periodic reviews of the kosher system
    • Maintain GMP inspection records and reports

    Qualifications

    • College degree in food science, microbiology or a related field or Two – five years of quality assurance or high speed manufacturing experience, or a combination of both.
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, make recommendations, draw conclusions and communicate effectively.
    • Ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently. Organized and able to handle multiple tasks. Self-directed, able to work autonomously.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
    • Excellent people skills, including listening skills, and can work with all levels of staff. Team-oriented attitude.
    • Strong attention to detail and the ability to uphold Peet’s quality standards.
    • Ability to analyze data and make recommendations on system and process improvement.
    • Intermediate / advanced skills in Microsoft Word, and Excel. Willingness to learn new software programs as needed.

     

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Some familiarity with third party audit functions including Organic Certification, AIB or similar audit groups, and or Kosher Certification.
    • Training in root cause or Why-Why analysis.
    • Training in statistical process control (SPC)
